This December will, for me, now be the month of getting things finished. This works out rather well as, at Midnight on the 31st, I will (like you) finish the month and the year too.
The reason for such a vague theme is that even as my understanding of what “getting things finished” changes, as long as I get things finished I am winning at December.
I’m too good at starting things
The reason for this theme over any other is that I may be too good at starting things. I have, on average, more ideas in a month than I could ever use in a lifetime.
The ideas that really grab my attention often get started. Some fail to progress, others get to a state of sort of usable, and many roll into the world of no defined finish line. Only a tiny fraction of projects can be said to be well and truly finished.
This December will, for me, be about growing my ability to get things done and out of the door.
What sort of things?
I have some things I want to get finished. Will I finish them? I don’t know. I will try.
On the table as potential things to finish are:
- Any unfished draft novel
- My next YouTube video
- A WordPress plugin for tracking things (like this)
With a little luck, I should mostly be blogging about things I manage to get finished. There will be updates posted to my Patreon feed. Some of them will be available to free subscribers but all will be available for any tier of patron. Code and other downloads are, largely, Patron-only.
Join me in finishing things
December is, in many ways, the ideal month for bringing things to a close. Wrapping up things (in addition to presents) clears the table for new projects in January.
Why not join my in making December the month of finishing things?
Let me know in the comments what you think of this idea. What projects do you need to get finished?
