I originally wrote about the idea of minimum viable story for the Thanet Creative blog. In the article, I took the business idea of the minimum viable product – what the least you need to get a product out of the door – and applied it to storytelling.
In the same post I posited that by focusing on the minimum viable story, you could avoid story scope creep and get something finished.
Now that I have finally stopped procrastinating and launched a YouTube channel, Nerdy Wordy, I revisited my theory in video presentation format.
The theory is almost entirely unchanged. Cut back on anything that does not contribute to the central story and get a story finished.
